Dex came from a small family breeder in Oregon, IL , for those of you who read Just What is a Puppy Mill? you might classify the breeder as something between a "Hobby breeder" and a "Backyard breeder". Dex was the result of one of their first litters from their AKC purebred female (and family pet), and a AKC Champion purebred stud to whose owner they paid a stud fee. We found the breeder in an online classified ad, did our homework, and after a smooth and enjoyable transaction with a couple of wonderful people, ended up with a wonderful Chihuahua Puppy and the experience that help us to write this guide. In all the process took about a month and a half from initial phone conversation to Dexter's home coming.

Sir Dexter is a male smooth coat Chihuahua. He was born on August 06, 2003 in Oregon, Illinois in a cozy little house in the middle of a corn field. Dexter is an AKC (American Kennel Club) registered purebred Chihuahua. He is a very mild mannered Chihuahua; not super high strung like you would expect some Chihuahua puppies to be. He has the personality of a young child, and sometimes it seems he may even think he is one, as his bladder control shows. Dex likes to sleep all stretched out with his head on a pillow with his legs pointing down, just as if he were a human being. Dexter is afraid of nothing, and will climb up to high places and jump down from them with no fear. Dexter also enjoys pestering his buddy Duke who is twice his size and 14 years his elder, by stealing his toys and jumping all over him. It’s quite a sight to watch the two of them playing tug of war with the “magical stuffed seal”, Dukes long time favorite toy that has not so coincidentally become Dexter’s favorite toy as well.
